Civic-minded individuals may want to understand why all-cause mortality has been far higher in California (and most other states) than Massachusetts since COVID-19 began.
Don't states issue death certificates, count them, and send their data to the CDC? You'd think they occasionally check if it's published correctly, so as not to embarrass the governor. Maybe I'm expecting too much.
Well, I have to say, that I think they have effed up (excuse my languge) ALL the basic data gathering.....but also had a hand in redinfing a case, redefining a vaccine, redefining death with /by covid, redefining unvaxxed, etc etc. etc. At this point, I cannot believe it is incompetence...it is malevolance. Deliberate and calculated. And given that.......
Just a hypothesis... are the people in higher mortality states more inclined in general to doing strenuous physical exercise? Just going by the collapse in soccer players and airline pilots. Harder working/challenged hearts fail more???
How accurate is that data, do we know?
Let me add: If the CDC failed this basic data-gathering task, that would raise serious doubts about their competence to perform other activities.
Dr Debra Birx, a physician, epidemiologist and statistician, did note early in 2020 that she did not trust anything provided by the CDC.
I believe that quote from Dr. Birx was in the context of COVID-death counting, not all-cause mortality. https://www.businessinsider.com/deborah-birx-cdc-comments-coronavirus-task-force-meeting-2020-5

Expecting transparency is too much for the authoritarians.

Good question. In the CDC data, the rises are consistent among many states. At the same time, MA is known for robust public health. Confirming the analysis is a news report that describes how a life insurance company noticed a 40% rise in deaths (mostly non-COVID) in Indiana, similar to the excess in my chart. https://justthenews.com/nation/states/indiana-life-insurance-ceo-says-deaths-are-40-among-people-ages-18-64
Good questions. It sure seems like something awful is happening.
